Small World vs. Big World

Remember that the small world laughed as a group of colonists declared their independence from the most powerful nation in the world, but the big world smiled as the United States came of age.

The small world laughed as Thomas Edison's experiments failed thousands of times, but the big world smiled as they saw the light.

The small world laughed as the young man from East 87th and Cedar Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio challenged the so-called "Super Race,"

but the big world smiled as Jesse Owens received four gold medals at the 1936 Olympics.

The small world laughed as a Catholic Senator challenged the status quo, but the big world smiled as John F. Kennedy became President of the United States.
