Life is NOT a Baseball Game (Complete Series)

Life will not wait for a teammate to consult with you on the mound.

Life offers no Seventh Inning Stretch.

No one can Pinch Hit for you.

There is no Bull Pen to rely on.

You may be called upon to play any position.

As a Pitcher, you must throw life your best pitch.

As a Catcher, you must handle the curves life dishes out.

You must become quick enough for the fastball and tough enough for the hardball.

When you play the bases, you will sometimes make an error, but with practice comes improvement, and you can eventually expect more double plays and even an occasional triple play.

In the outfield you will often be lonely, but your position is important.

When you least expect it, you will be called upon to be the backup for what someone else has missed.

Opportunity will come your way, sometimes high, sometimes low, sometimes fast, sometimes slow.

It will be up to you to remain alert and be ready to adjust your position and your speed.

Sometimes the catch will be easy and other times you will be required to stretch beyond the limits that you consider possible.

You may be blinded by a relentless sun, or fooled by the winds of change.  But be assured that most of the time, if you give it your best, it will soon be your turn at bat.

When it is your turn at bat and you step up to the plate, all eyes will be upon you.  Some will hope you hit a Home Run, others will be praying that you strike out, and many won’t care.

Remember that it is your ball game.  You will receive very few perfect pitches.  Much of the time you will have to make the best of what life throws you.

Your best chance is to be well prepared and patient.  Don’t take wild swings and reckless chances, but remember that eventually you must take a swing.

Remember your training and keep your eye on the prize.

Despite all your preparation, sometimes you may strike out.  Don’t let that deter you, because preparation and persistence will insure that your batting average will see you through.
