THE POWER OF FOCUS AND PURPOSE By Dr. Robert L. Lawson
It was the great Anthony Robbins, author of Unlimited Power and Awaken the Giant Within who once said, “It is in your moments of decision that your destiny is shaped.” Perhaps there is nothing more powerful than discovering what you were put on this planet to do and then taking the time to establish a conceptual framework for getting it done in an effort to help not only yourself but as many other people as you possibly can. Remember, you do not have to be a minister in order to have a ministry. When you discover your purpose in life or that passion or internal fire 🔥 in your mind and belly that drives you, that becomes your reason for being. (raison d’etre) (French).
Before Ralph Waldo Emerson came along, the Englishman, Thomas Carlyle had said, “Nothing great was ever accomplished without passion.” Many of the great men and women who have preceded us have written down clues about what it takes to make a noteworthy contribution to those who ride with us on this life journey and those who come after. Previous authors as well as current ones and the philosophies of my colleagues and those closest to me have had a dramatic impact upon my thinking as well as does the impetus of divine revelation. Many years ago, I put my life philosophy in writing. “My desire is to see, touch and inspire the hearts of people, making them aware of their worth and value to themselves and to others.” To be most effective, whatever it is that drives you must become the centralizing focal point of your thought process. It is this power of focus that you must develop in order to eliminate or lessen the distractions in your life that inhibit you from fulfilling your life purpose. You must become aware of bad habits, where you are spending an inordinate amount of time and replace them with new ones in order to stay focused on your goals. This means that another key ingredient in the success process is required. “You must discipline yourself to do the things you have to do today so that when tomorrow comes, you can do the things you want.” These are indeed powerful words and keys to your continued success in all of your endeavors. How strongly you feel about what you are doing as well as the confidence you have in your own abilities when combined can make you virtually unstoppable.
After all, it was Nathaniel Branden who once said, “There is no value judgement more important to an individual, no factor more decisive to his psychological development and motivation than the estimate he places upon himself.” So, as you approach the beginning of another full work-week in August of 2020, remember, time is slipping away. Hope you can feel the sense of urgency not only to relax and enjoy life but to also understand and apply the powerful and immortal words of William Jennings Bryan, “Destiny is not a matter of chance, it is a matter of choice; it is not a thing to be hoped for, it is a thing to be achieved.” Blessings to each of you.

It Takes Only One! The Creator of the universe planted in someone the dream that became the end result. One person began the Protestant Reformation. One person became Joan of Arc. One person became Mother Teresa. One person ran the four-minute mile, and then there were thousands. It takes only one! Please think on these things. If not why not? If not you then who? If not now then when? You, your idea, your energy, your passion, may be exactly what the world needs now. www.successisyou.org
